I first met with Janae about possibilities of my internship and what interested me. We talked about the medical field and shadowing nurses and what next steps I should take. I made a goal for myself to reach out to my potential mentor before winter break. I was overall worried and nervous when reaching out but I decided to try and call my potential mentor and set up a meeting to further discuss. He agreed and when we finally met up. We were both very enthusiastic and I officially had an internship. I only contacted one business and if it didn't worked out I had a backup plan. It wasn't very difficult to find my internship, the only hard part was contacting them.
I met my mentor when my dad had a root canal in my 9th grade year. He was always so welcoming. Even then he allowed me to look into the scope and he would answer all my questions. When going into this internship I wanted to see the assistance side of it and also the front desk side of it. I never realized how difficult it would be working at the front desk. Overall in this internship, I hoped to be able to sit alongside my mentor and help him.
I hoped to bring to the business an intern who was always cheerful and took initiative in tasks. I hope to have made a mark on my patients as an intern who shows eagerness to learn.
